About me and my work
Welcome to Sarah Robinson Ceramics and thank you for taking the time to explore my world of handmade ceramic art.
My style
I’m a ceramicist working from my home studio in Brisbane, on the east coast of Australia. My design style is driven by a love of the unique and interesting, pieces that spark curiosity, invite touch, and bring an element of the unexpected into a space.
My personal interior style is an eclectic mix of old and new, handmade and collected, precision and imperfection, a blend that also reflects the heart of my ceramic work.
My art
My practice sits somewhere between sculpture and functional design.
I create display pieces, sculptural forms, and ceramic lamp shades, often incorporating mixed media such as copper wiring, timber details, or beaded elements. My hope is that these pieces become lifelong treasures: loved for their quirks, their irregularities, and the story they bring into a room.
My inspiration
I was born in South Africa, a place rich in creativity, expression, and an incredible appreciation for beauty in everyday life. Anyone who has travelled through Africa knows the ingenuity of its makers and their ability to transform simple materials into something remarkable. That spirit influences my work daily.
Australia, my much loved adopted home, continues to inspire me with its vast and ever-changing landscapes, from sun-soaked coastlines to the deep, earthy tones of the desert. The richness of these colours, paired with our relaxed, outdoors lifestyle, is a constant reminder of how much beauty surrounds us here.
That effortless connection to nature influences the way I design and create.
